Requirements
Western Illinois University, dedicated to diversity and the fine arts, has designated four scholarships to attract international string students that cover full tuition along with a stipend to assist with fees and housing. These four musicians – two violinists, one violist and one cellist – form the WIU President’s International String Quartet. The quartet is seeking a violinist and a violist to join in Fall of 2019. Application deadline: February 18, 2019 The quartet is seeking a cellist for Fall of 2020. Application deadline: February 17, 2020
Candidates will need the following to apply:
A completed high school degree or equivalent
One video of the candidate performing two contrasting works
School of Music application and admission information
Three letters of recommendation, including information on the applicant’s academic, musical and sight-reading abilities
A completed international student admission application form
Required English proficiency test scores: IBT TOEFL 79 or paper TOEFL 550 or IELTS 6.5
