Some community colleges have very good resources that enable them to provide almost the same service to students in their first two years as these students would have received if they were enrolled into a good four-year university or college. Ease of Transfer to Top Universities

Some Community Colleges have articulated agreements with some top universities. This provides guaranteed transfer opportunities to graduates from these Community Colleges once they meet specified conditions. Available statistics suggest that students are able to use the Community College pathway to access universities they couldn’t have gotten into if they were to apply directly.

Affordable Cost

Community Colleges are noted for affordability. Some community colleges such as Santa Rosa Junior College and Foothill & De Anza provide very good education at affordable prices. Typically, the cost of the entire two years of schooling is lower than just a year of studies in some universities.

Flexible Entry Requirements

Application requirements and conditions are not as stringent in Community Colleges as in four universities. Some community colleges do not require SAT. Some accept low TOEFL scores and provide extra ESL support to students. Entry dates are also more frequent in Community Colleges. Whereas some top universities have only one start dates in a year, some Community Colleges have as many as four entry dates.
