Undergraduate programs in Canada comprises of non-degree, post-secondary programs such as certificate, diploma and advanced diploma programs; (Associate degree in British Columbia) and first degree also known as Bachelor’s degree. Both universities and colleges are the main centers of undergraduate education. Universities and colleges which have autonomous specialized faculties devoted to some professional studies may ascribe the name “School” or “Institute”. Though universities and colleges in Canada may provide programs and credentials in the same or similar disciplines, the colleges tend to put more emphasis on career and vocational skills development. Many colleges are also increasing their collaborations with universities so that students can transfer some or all credits earned in colleges to partner universities for progression to higher degrees.
